Location
Alta-Aurelia Schools are located in beautiful northwest Iowa 60 miles northeast of Sioux City and 65 miles southwest of the Iowa Great Lakes region. An approximately two and a half hour drive to both Des Moines, IA and Omaha, NE. The city of Alta has a population of 1,880 residents base on 2010 census data. The city of Aurelia has 1035 residents based on 2010 census data.
Enrollment
The district serves a rural area of 260 square miles with a K-12 enrollment of 780 students. The high school (grades 9-12) is located in Alta. The Middle School (grades 5-8) is located in Aurelia. Each community hosts its own elementary (Preschool - 4th grade).
Excellence
The patrons and the students make the school system very special. Talented students continue to provide the districts with many fine honors, not only in the area of academics, but also in the performing and creative arts, along with athletics.
