How do I   get a StudentAid.gov account?

You can create a StudentAid.gov account here: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launc

How is the StudentAid.gov account used?

The StudentAid.gov account is used to log in to certain U.S. Department of Education websites. Your StudentAid.gov account confirms your identity when you access your financial aid information and electronically sign Federal Student Aid documents.

Do Both Parent and Student need a StudentAid.gov account?

Yes, if you are a parent of a dependent student, you will need your own StudentAid.gov account to sign your child's FAFSA electronically. If you have more than one child attending college, you can use the same StudentAid.gov account to sign all applications.

Steps to Create an FSA ID

  1. When logging into this website https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch click 'Get Started'.
  2. Enter personal information (Do Not use your high school email address).
  3. Create Username and Password.
  4. Complete Challenge Questions.
  5. Verify your cell phone and email address.
  6. Review and Submit.

Here's What You'll Need...
 
 
Student:
*  A StudentAid.gov Account
*  2024 federal and state tax returns and W2's
*  Child Support received in the past year
*  Asset information including:  Current value of Cash, Savings, and Checking, Net worth of investments, Net worth of any business/farm 
*  List of Federal Benefits received including:  Earned Income Tax Credit, Federal Housing Assistance, Free or Reduced-Priced Lunch, Medicadid, QHP, SNAP, SSI, TANF, WIC
*  State of legal residence, when you became a resident or birth month/year
*  A list of the colleges/universities you wish to send the FAFSA
*  Parent legal name, social security number, date of birth and email
 
Parent(s):
* A Studentaid.gov account

*  Child support received in the past year
