The following is a list of available scholarships and due dates:

December 1, 202-The Hagan Scholarship-Students must be a student in the 202 high school graduating class. Must have a 3.5 GPA or higher. Must enroll in an eligible college or university. Applicant's Adjusted Household Income reported for Federal Income Tax Purposes must not exceed $100,000.
January
January 5, 2026-Mediacom World Class Scholarship-As a corporation with strong community roots, we want to support the higher education of our customers. For this reason, we created The Mediacom World Class Scholarship Program to award graduating high school students with $1,000 scholarships that they can use toward future college expenses.
January 5, 2026-Jim Hallihan Character Legacy Scholarship-Applicant must be a high school senior graduating in spring 2026. One recipient will be chosen from an Iowa High School to honor Jim's work with youth in Iowa, and another recipient will be chosen from a Decatur, Illinois High School to honor his hometown.
January 9, 2026-Claim Aid Scholarship-Students must graduate in 2026 and continue his/her education at a college or university. Attend a school within a school district that participates in the IASB/ClaimAid Medicaid Reimbusement Program. (Alta-Aurelia Community School District does) There are two separate scholarships-The Star Student Scholarship of Iowa-Special Education graduating senior student who will continue his/her education at a college or university. The Special Education Teacher Scholarship of Iowa-graduating senior student who will continue his/her education at a college or university and is planning to study Education, specifically Special Edcuation
January 12, 2026-JCI Senate Scholarship-The JCI Senate Scholarship program is part of a national initiative to help young people get a college education. Each year, the Iowa JCI Senate puts together a list of high school senior applications and judges them in January to award 3 to 4 students with a scholarship to use for college or trade school. The winners are then forwarded on to the national organization for additional scholarship opportunities.
January 17, 2025-ISCA Senior Scholarship-Applicants must be seniors from the state of Iowa. They must write an essay about a school counselor who made a difference in their K-12 career.
January 17, 2025-NSDAR and ISDAR Scholarship Awards-Students who plan on attending a Technical school, college, or university, have a minimum grade point of 3.0, show merit and financial need, be recommended by the chapter regent.
January 22, 2025-Buena Vista County Pork Producers Scholarship-Applicant must be a high school graduate of a Buena Vista County school, grade point average of 2.5 or higher, recipients will need to attend board meetings or assist with grillings as requested for the following year, preference will be given to students who are majoring in an agriculture related field, are Buena Vista County Pork Producers and to those who have in the past or have plans to make an impact on the swine industry in the future.
January 28, 2026- Buena Vista County Farm Bureau Scholarship- The applicant must be a child of current Iowa Farm Bureau members in good standing with the organization. The graduating high school senior must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average, be involved in extra-curricular activities and be accepted into an accredited higher education institution, including community colleges and technical schools. Applications will only be accepted online through the Iowa Farm Bureau Portal.
January 28, 2026-Nelda Nelson Scholarship-This scholarship is open to any high school senior residing in Buena Vista County planning on attending a community college, technical school, college or university.
January 28, 2026-Cherokee County Farm Bureau Scholarship-Applicants should be graduating high school seniors with a 2.5 g.p.a., involvement in extra-curricular activities, and accepted into an accredited higher education institution, including community colleges and technical schools. Eligibility is reserved for current Farm Bureau members or their children in good standing with the organization.

February 1, 2025-Grand Lodge of Iowa Masonic Scholarships-Students must be graduating seniors pursuing a post-secondary education in any state at an accredited institution which provides a two or four year college program.
February 1, 2025-Iowa Environmental Health Association Scholarship-Students must be a resident of the state of Iowa, a high school senior or a non-traditional student returning to college in the State of Iowa. Recipient must be majoring in Environmental Health or a related field.
February 1, 2024-GFWC/IOWA Scholarship Program-Scholarships are based on achievement, financial need, and volunteerism. Unless specified, both male and female students are eligible. Please see Mrs. Shea for a list of GFWC/Iowa Aurelia members.
February 1, 2025-John C. and Nancy J. Heuck Scholarship-Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.0, be pursuing a career in agriculture business or related field, and be graduating seniors from a high school in one of the following counties: Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, O'Brien, Osceola, or Palo Alto.
February 1, 2025-Grand Lodge of Iowa MCEC Technical Scholarship-Scholarships are given to graduating Iowa Seniors who plan to enroll in a mechanical or trade course of study at an accredited Iowa Community College.
February 7, 2025-Cherokee County Soil and Water Conservation District Scholarship-Iowa high school class of 2025 students pursuing programs of study in any field of conservation or agriculture qualifies for the Conservation Scholarship.
February 7, 2025-Buena Vista County Soil and Water Conservation District Scholarship-Dr. T.E. Shea Conservation Memorial Scholarship Buena Vista County high school class of 2025 students pursuing programs of study in any field of conservation or agriculture qualifies for the Conservation Scholarship
February 10, 2025 Cherokee Rodeo Leaders in Agriculture Scholarship-Applicant must be a high school senior attending a post-secondary college, university, or technical school who are passionate about agriculture and our community. Eligible applicants must have graduated from a high school or home school program in Buena Vista, Cherokee, Ida, O'Brien, Plymouth, or Woodbury counties in Iowa. Pursuit of an ag-related degree or trade is a MUST, but it is not required that the applicant be a rodeo athlete.
February 12, 2025-WIMECA Scholarship-Applicant must be a graduating senior from Aurelia and have a parent who is a current electric customer of Aurelia Municipal Electric.

February 12, 2025-Basin Electric Power Cooperative Scholarship-Applicants must be dependent children of member-system consumers and dependent children of member-cooperative employees are eligible. The applicant must be a US citizen. The applicant must be a senior who is enrolled or planning to enroll in a full time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four year college, university, or technical school. This application must be turned in to Aurelia City Hall on February 12, 2025.
February 13, 2026-Iowa Newspaper Foundation Scholarship-College scholarships available for students preparing for a newspaper career.
February 28, 2025-Excellence in Agriculture Scholarship-Applicant or parent must be a voting member in good standing of Landus. Applicant must be a high school senior and graduate in the spring of 2025. Applicant must have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or better. Applicant must pursue a career in agriculture or enter an ag-related field of study at any accredited post secondary school. Dependents of directors and officers of Landus are not eligible to apply for these scholarships.February 28, 2025-AgState Scholarship-To be eligible a student must be pursuing a degree in Agriculture at an accredited university, community college, or technical school. Preference will be given to students of AgState Class A Members. Factors considered will be academic achievement, school service and involvement, and other community and school related activities.

March 1, 2025-Iowa State Rifle and Pistol Association-Applicants must be US citizens, participate in a shooting team or club during high school, and a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
March 1, 2024-Aureon Scholarship-Scholarship is available to students who plan to pursue a course related study in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics. Applicant must be an Iowa student whose family has service with Northwest Communications.

March 1, 2025-Iowa Automobile Dealers Association-Applicant must be committed to the pursuit of automotive-related studies.
March 1, 2024-Ivan and Deloris Hunter Scholarship-High school seniors in the following counties: Buena Vista, Calhoun, Greene, Hamilton, Humboldt, Pocahontas, Sac, Wester, and Wright and those centering their education on agriculture, soil conservation, and/or environmental studies.
March 5, 2025-Pomegranate Lodge No. 408 A.F. & A.M.and the Harold Salton Scholarship-The Pomegranate Lodge Scholarship for $250.00, one each to Alta-Aurelia, Newell-Fonda, Storm Lake Public or a St. Mary's Student. The Harold Salton Trust Scholarship will be awarding two $500.00 Scholarships. Two students from the area schools will be selected. Students with a Masonic Connection by lineage will take precedence over other applicants, but all students are encouraged to apply.
March 8, 2024- Richard Hatz Scholarship-All residents of Lyon, Sioux, Plymouth, Cherokee, and Ida counties are eligible to apply as long as they will be enrolled in an institution of higher learning during the calendar year that awards are granted and will be obtaining a degree in: Business, Health, Nutrition, Early Education and Energy Conservation fields.
March 15, 2025-Alta Kiwanis and Aurelia Kiwanis Vocational Scholarship-Applicant must be a student of Alta-Aurelia High School. Applicant must be planning to enroll in a post-secondary institution and majoring in Ag Technology, Construction Trades(HVAC, Plumbing, Carpentry, and Electricians), Wind Turbine Technology, Nursing, Welding, Electrical or Mechanical Maintenance. Applicant must demonstrate perseverance in overcoming adversity. Applicant must be involved in community service activities.
March 15, 2025-Alta Kiwanis and Aurelia Kiwanis Scholarship-Applicant must be a student of Alta-Aurelia High School. Applicant must be planning to enroll in a post-secondary institution. Scholarship award will be based partially on financial need. Scholarship will be based also on the student's potential success in college.

March 15, 2025-Grinnell Mutual Road to Success Scholarship-Eligible seniors are insured through a personal auto policy with Grinnell Mutual or Grinnell Select, or is a dependent named on a Grinnell Mutual or Grinnell Select Insurance Policy. Maintains a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher. Has a clean driving record and plan to attend an accredited post secondary educational institution in the fall of 2025 as a full time student. The student is not a dependent of any Grinnell Mutual employee or affiliated agent.
March 15, 2025-First Friday Breakfast Club-Applicant must be a high school senior who has demonstrated leadership in efforts to increase education and understanding of LGBT issues and reduce homophobia in their schools and/or communities.
March 21, 2025 Corteva Cherokee Seed Production Facility Scholarship-Applicant must plan to major in an Agriculture related program or a skilled trade Agriculture related program. Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
March 28, 2025-Karon Brown Scholarship-The Karon Brown Award was established in 2021 as a tribute to Karon Brown who
served the IGHSAU in a variety of roles for 43 years. The recipient of this award is recognized for excellence in the classroom, in athletics and must plan on a future in a
sports-related field. Her profile should reflect loyalty, perseverance, character, and passion for continuing a career serving female athletes. Those same qualities personified Karon Brown and her work for the IGHSAU.

March 29, 2025-Harold King Memorial Tractor Ride Agricultural Scholarship-Applicant must be a graduating student pursuing a degree in agriculture or an agricultural related field. Students must have a record of volunteerism in the community. Applicant must plan to attend a 2 year or 4 year college/university. Applicant must be an active participant in their church.
March 30, 2025-International Association of Arson Investigators-Iowa Chapter Scholarship-Applicant must be a resident of Iowa and be accepted or enrolled at an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical school. Applicants must major in a field of education promoting a career in one of the following professions or area of study: Fire Service, Fire Science, Law Enforcement, Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Protection Technology, or Insurance.
March 31, 2026-Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarships-Student must be a high school senior and live within a 40 mile radius of Buena Vista Regional Medical Center. Applicant must pursue a health related field of educational study or Applicant can be either employed by BVRMC or a child of a BVRMC employee or any other 2026 graduate and entering a health related field.
March 31, 2025-North Star Community Credit Union Scholarship-This scholarship is open to any high school student who lives or works in Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Crawford, Dickinson, Ida, Lyon, Monona, O'Brien, Osceola, Plymouth, Sac, Sioux, or Woodbury county, classified as a senior with a projected graduation date of 2025. Applicants must have an account established in their name and be a "member in good standing" at North Star Community Credit Union.
March 31, 2025-Ann Griffel Scholarship-Applicants must be Iowa high school senior girls who have a passion for golf and intend to further their education at an Iowa institution of higher learning, whether a college, university, or trade school.
March 31, 2025-Herman Sani Scholarship-Any graduating high school senior and resident of the State of Iowa with experience or background in golf is eligible to apply.
March 31, 2025-Northwest Iowa Down Syndrome Society Buddy Scholarship-applicant must be a graduating senior pursuing a career in special education, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy.
March 31, 2026-SFM Foundation Scholarship-This scholarship is for students whose parents were killed or seriously injured in workplace accidents while working for Minnesota or Iowa employers.

April 1, 2025-Little Sioux Corn Processors Scholarship-Applicant must be accepted or enrolled in an accredited college, university, or community college. Must be a high school graduate, or if still in high school must have an expected graduation date in the current school year. All areas of study will be accepted. Students must maintain a cumulative minimum 2.5 grade point average throughout their college career. Scholarship will be applied toward tuition fees, housing and meal costs, book costs, or other similar costs and fees normally associated with attending a college, university, or community college. Please return this scholarship to the guidance office when completed.
April 1, 2025-Des Moines Mothers of Multiples Scholarship-Applicant must be a multiple birth student(twin, triplet, or higher order multiple), a senior in high school who plans to attend a college, university, trade or vocational school.
April 1, 2025-Cherokee County Agri-Business Committee Agricultural Scholarship-Applicant must be a graduating senior residing in Cherokee County. Applicants must be working toward a degree in the agriculture field.
April 1, 2025-Friends of Aurelia Scholarship-Applicant must be a graduating senior who displays the characteristics of being kind, hard working, and has shown service to his or her community.
April 1, 2025-The Parent in Heaven Balance Scholarship-This scholarship is intended for a high school senior who, at any time in his/her life, has lost a parent or legal guardian.
April 1, 2023-Cherokee State Bank-There are a number of scholarships available through various trust programs at Cherokee State Bank. Applicants must be Cherokee county residents. The following link can be used to view the various scholarships and apply for what a student might be eligible.
April 1. 2023-Professional Educators of Iowa Scholarship- These scholarships are created to establish an ongoing network of educational opportunities for Iowans.
April 1, 2025-Cherokee Regional Medical Center Kenneth Hobson Memorial Scholarship- Applicant must be a resident of the Cherokee Regional Medical Center Service Area. A high school senior in good standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Entering a human health care occupation that involves “hands on” healthcare. ACT Score of 20 or above. Preference given to applicants with a relationship to hospital staff or a hospital volunteer of a minimum of one year prior to the application. Completed applications, including transcripts and recommendations must be submitted by April 1st.
April 1, 2025-Cherokee Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship-Applicant must be a resident of the Cherokee Regional Medical Center Service Area, Applicant must be a high school senior in good standing. Use of the scholarship is limited to studies relating to a human health professional career. The need for financial assistance is a consideration of the committee.

April 1, 2025-Cherokee Regional Medical Center John M. Comstock Scholarship-Applicant must be a resident of the Cherokee Regional Medical Center Service Area. A high school senior in good standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Entering a human health care occupation. ACT Score of 22 or above.The need for financial assistance as well as overall high school performance including extra-curricular activities will be considered by the committee. Completed applications, including transcripts and recommendations must be submitted by April 1st.

April 1, 2025-Cherokee County Suicide Prevention Coalition Scholarship-Applicant must be a resident of Cherokee County, must be a high school senior in good standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Sutdent must be entering a health care, social work, or public service occupation. Preference given to those affected by suicide.
April 2, 2025-The Alta Chapter GB P.E.O. Scholarship-Female students in the upper 50% of the class may apply. Students must be planning to attend a post-secondary institution. The scholarship amount is $400.
April 4, 2025-Northwest Iowa Law Enforcement Scholarship -Students graduating in 2025 from Buena Vista, Pocahontas, and Sac counties who plan on entering the law enforcement field.
April 4, 2025-Cole-Hadenfeldt Foundation Scholarship Application-Applicants must be a graduate or eligible for graduation in 2025, of one of the following high schools: Alta-Aurelia, Newell-Fonda, Ridgeview, Sioux Central, Storm Lake Public, or Storm Lake St. Mary's. Applicant must be attending a trade school, community college or 4 year college no later than September 30, 2025. Applicant must have achieved a GPA of 2.5 or greater during their last academic year. Scholarship opportunities through this foundation will include Full-Ride which will include tuition, room and board, together with any applicable book fees, Tuition only(full or partial), or Room and Board only(full or partial)
April 5, 2024-Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative Scholarship-Applicants must be a US citizen, must be a current member of Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative, must be a senior in high school for the 2023-2024 school year and planning to enroll in a fulltime undergraduate or graduate course of study at an accredited two year or four year college, university, or vocational/technical school.
April 7, 2025-Schaller Telephone Comany Scholarship-Applicant must be pursuing a degree in Business including but not limited to, Management, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, and Information Technology, or a degree at a trade/technical school including but not limited to, Electrical, Carpentry, Telecommunications, Plumbing, Welding, and Diesel Mechanics. This is open to any high school graduating senior that lives in the Schaller-Telephone Company service exchange of Schaller, Galva, Cushing, or Kiron, Iowa.
April 7, 2025-Cherokee County Pork Producers-Applicant must reside in Cherokee county and be enrolled in a college/university at full time status, paying full time tuition. Applicants be pursuing a major or field of study that will benefit agriculture or ag business.
April 15, 2025-Northwest Iowa League of Cities Regional Scholarship-Applicant must be a high school senior and reside in a community that is a member of the Northwest Iowa League of Cities. Student must have intent to enroll in a post secondary program that may result in employment by city government, and must have acceptance and enrollment in a post secondary institution.
April 15, 2025-United Bank of Iowa Scholarship-Applicant must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited 2 or 4 year college, university, or vocational/technical school. The preferred field of study would be business, finance, accounting, agricultural, or related field. The scholarship will be based on the student's involvement in school and community activities and must have at least a 2.5 overall high school GPA. Preference would be the applicant or the applicant's parents are a customer of United Bank of Iowa. United Bank of Iowa employee's children are not eligible for the scholarship.

April 15, 2025-Ag Coop Safety Directors of Iowa Scholarship in Memory of Mark Hambleton -Applicants must be a high school senior attending a college or university in the fall of 2025 and pursuing a major in an agriculture or safety related field.
April 15, 2025-Iowa Council of the United Blind Scholarship-Applicants must be a 2025 graduate and a legal resident of the state of Iowa. Applicants must be blind or legally blind. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point of a B.
April 15, 2025-Cherokee Flying Club Aviation Scholarship-Applicant must be pursuing a career in the aviation field.
April 25, 2025-Carroll C. Mongan Trust Scholarships and Loans-Students must be a resident of Cherokee county for at least 10 years. The student must be a member of the graduating senior class.

May 1, 2025-Gene Dumkrieger Memorial Scholarship-Applicant must be from the Aurelia School District. Recipient must enroll in a four year college or university. Recipient must enroll within four months of graduation from high school. Recipient must be enrolled in one of the following fields of study:
Nursing, Conservation, Art, and Teaching.
May 1, 2025-Tim Radke Memorial Scholarship-Applicant must be attending an institution of higher learning and major in an agriculture related field.
May 1, 2025-Nuvera/R.T. Rodenberg Memorial Scholarship-This scholarship honors Richard T. Rodenberg, a former Board Member and Chairman of the Board of Nu-Telecom. A member of the 2025 graduating class of Alta-Aurelia. Students must have at least a 2.0 G.P.A., attend a post secondary institution, and be involved in extra-curricular activities for at least one year.
May 1, 2025-Iowa Association of Building Officials Scholarship-Applicants must be a resident of Iowa and have a high school diploma or GED. Applicants must be admitted to an eligible program.
May 1, 2025-Sue and Myron Radke Endowment Scholarship-Sue and Myron Radke are both retired teachers from the Aurelia Community School. Sue was an elementary teacher for many years and Myron was a social studies teacher and long-time football coach. As former educators they have established a scholarship in their name. The scholarship is a one-time payment of $1000.00 to a senior in the Alta-Aurelia school who plans to attend an institution of higher learning to pursue a career in either education or in the medical field. The scholarship will be given based on the following qualities: Leadership, Future Promise, and Citizenship. The selection of the scholarship recipient is made by a committee established by the donors.
May 1, 2025-William H. & Edith M. Guest Educational Trust Scholarships Application Form-Under the Trust Instrument, preference must be given to students living in the Cherokee area attending a 2 year trade or vocational program.
May 1, 2025-TJ Schaefer Memorial Scholarship Application-Applicant must be a student of Alta-Aurelia High School, applicant must be planning to enroll in a post secondary institution with career plans, scholarship will be based on student's demonstration of integrity, hard work, and determination. Scholarship will also be based on the student's potential success in college
May 1, 2025-North Central Line Service Scholarship in Memory of Kyle Suter-Applicants for this scholarship must be graduating seniors of Alta-Aurelia High School with the goal of attending a post secondary program majoring in powerline with the intent of becoming a lineman.
May 1, 2024-Cherokee State Bank Educational Loans-There are various loans available through trust programs at Cherokee State Bank. Applicants must be Cherokee County residents. Use the following link to assess for which you might be eligible.
May 31, 2024-MolinaCares High School Scholarship-Applicant must be a high school senior and a resident of Iowa. Applicants must be enrolled or accepted in a college with an accredited CNA, LPN, RN, ASN, or BSN program in Iowa.

June 15, 2026-Iowa PGA Foundation Charlie Burkhart Scholarship-Any graduating high school senior residing within the boundaries of the Iowa PGA Foundation and the State of Iowa is eligible to apply. Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of their interest and activity
