Parents/guardians considering the use of the Open Enrollment option to enroll their child/children in another public school district in the State of Iowa should be aware of the following dates:
March 1, 2019 – Last date of regular enrollment requests for the 2019-2020 school year for students older than Kindergarten.
If the student meets the definition of good cause under 281-Iowa Administrative Code 17.4(1) because of a change of residence or is an entering kindergarten student for the 2019-2020 school year the application can be accepted after March 1, 2019 for the 2019-2020 school year.
A pupil, who transfers school district under open enrollment in grades 10 through 12, shall not be eligible to participate in interscholastic contests and competitions during the first 90 school days after transfer.
Parents/guardians of open enrollment students whose income falls below 160% of the federal poverty guidelines are eligible for transportation assistance. This may be in the form of actual transportation or in the form of a cash stipend.
